Science of Reading

The Simple View of Reading (above) explains the need to focus on BOTH Decoding and Language Comprehension for a child to gain Reading Comprehension.
Incorporating all of the skills from both Language Comprehension and Word Recognition/Decoding, as seen in Scarborough's Rope (below), increases a child's reading fluency and comprehension to develop a skilled and fluent reader.
